We are happy to announce Mémoires 2.0, a new major version of our journaling software!

We listened to you and implemented a lot of your suggestions in this version.

Here’s a list of changes. You can find more information on What’s New page.

  • Show all entries. Your journals are now easier to browse: view all your entries in sidebar by clicking on the button or using new View menu.
  • Automatically save journals. Mémoires will now automatically save your journals every 5 minutes and before closing, so you won’t lose a bit.
  • Change date and time of entries. Entry title now conveniently shows date of entry creation. By clicking on it, you can change the date and time.
  • Better look of search results. Search results now have the same background as normal entries list, and shows shorter date to leave more space for entry title.
  • Check spelling as you type by default. While available in earlier versions, “Check spelling as you type” has been turned off by default. Now it’s on, so you can spot spelling mistakes on the fly.
  • Entries are now created and sorted using correct time.
  • Improved speed of browsing calendar and entries.
  • Added View > Go To Today menu item.
  • New application and document icons.
  • Better look of entry title.
  • Better look of dates with entries in calendar.
  • Improved Help menu.
  • Disable Entry > Remove menu item when there’s no selection.
  • New crash reporter.
  • Hide file extension when encrypting or decrypting file.
  • Fixed rare issue with buttons appearing as pressed.
  • Fixed typos in help.

Does this mean you’re starting on a new BlogJet soon? :-)

Robin, something is in works, and I hope it won’t disappoint you :-)

The new memoires is great, I find it a bit expensive, but it’s a great piece of kit and a must have for all mac users. Just one thing, I think you should be able to change the size of the image more easily perhaps using free transform.

How do I download an old version? It updated me to 2.0 and told me to download the old version here? Not a great user experience honestly, really a big pain.

Nathan, the link is here: http://www.codingrobots.com/support/knowledge-base/memoires/faq/

I recently switched to Memoires from another Mac journaling software and am enjoying it immensely - mostly because of its simpler and cleaner interface. I want to write a journal - not the great American novel. For straightforward users like me, I can’t imagine a better product.

I owned the previous version, and finally I decided to upgrade to the new one. I have to say - I am very very disappointed. For $17 I got nothing that I can see. For once, I was hoping to get easy formatting - this was my main issue with the previous version. But I still have to deal with the floating windows that wouldn’t resize in the same time with the main window and no easy buttons for alignment options.

I’m sorry, but as far as I’m concerned, for someone who owned the previous version s not worth spending the money! Thanks.

Andreea, thanks for your feedback! Your feature request has been noted.

This is exactly what I have been looking for. Unfortunately, I have to resize my images before dropping them inside an entry. There should be an option to resize each image or to resize automatically to fit in an entry, and not expand 100%.

Also, there’s a problem with the date. I have August 13 selected in the calendar but in the top-right corner the date says “1 August 2009”. I think the second character gets cut off, so instead of “13” you’ll only see “1”.

  11. Dmitry

Yes, image resizing is in our to-do list.

As for the date issue, we’re aware of it (this is because we use Palatino font, and later discovered that it’s not shipped by default with Mac OS X), and will fix it in the next update.

    Thank you!

Wow! Thanks for the quick response. I just purchased the full version and am really excited to be moving on from the current .txt file journal to this. Awesome job.

I like the trial and it is really simple and nice looking. Yet I found it a bit pricey. Is there any chance you will make a special price for Russian users? I am from Moscow.

a small wish - it would be nice to have in the main window a button to go to today, plus to a shortcut and a menu item

and what about iphone version? ;)

  14. Dmitry

Alex: No, sorry. I live in Moscow as well, and it’s expensive city to live :). If you act quick, there’s still time for 20% discount http://www.onefingerdiscount.com/.

As for Go to Today, it in View menu. Use Cmd+Shift+T shortcut.
