Announcing New Product: ScreenSketcher

February 25, 2010 by Dmitry

We are really excited to announce our new product, ScreenSketcher!

ScreenSketcher is a tool for creating quick and dirty wireframes of user interfaces and UI prototypes. You can use it to draw mockups of anything that can appear on computer screen such as a window, a web page, and so on. ScreenSketcher has 34 ready-to-use elements that you can put into your mock-ups, including menus and Ribbon-style toolbars. It’s a native Windows application.

The product was originally created by Jacob Thurman, the author of the popular Delphi add-on Castalia. The first version has been released about a year ago. Jacob was too busy with his well established business, so we acquired ScreenSketcher and we will continue developing it.

We’re aware of a few products in this market, like Balsamiq Mockups and some web-based applications. We think our key strength is that ScreenSketcher is a native Windows application, so it launches fast and runs smoothly, and doesn’t force you to store your private data on servers that you don’t control.

In the future we plan to add more ready-to-use elements and more properties for them. Please let us know if you have any questions or ideas about this product.

This version includes improvements to Jacob’s 1.0 version; here’s a list of changes for those familiar with the previous version:

  • New logo.
  • Now it fills most elements inner space.
  • Added ability to change element’s key property by double clicking.
  • Fixed the elements bar folding bug.
